These days, AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude are increasingly sending traffic to websites, creating an entirely new style of SEO known as AI SEO.
AI SEO is Mostly On-Page
Q&A Structuring- Optimizing your website for AI is structuring your written content in more of a conversational form of questions and answers in the same way humans would interact with a chatbot if they were asking a question or trying to solve a problem.
Another way of explaining this would be to write your content or explain your product/service in a more conversational manner rather than a sales pitch. If someone is talking to an AI about a service you provide, what questions would they ask? It’s like doing keyword research on a whole new level. Instead of wondering what keywords someone would type to find your website, ask yourself what questions would they ask a chatbot or AI? Instead of keyword stuffing, it’s more like AI query stuffing within your text.
Last but not least, make sure to have an actual FAQ or Q&A section.
Add Credibility for AI to Recognize
What is EEAT?
Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness- I like the saying, “it ain’t bragging if it’s true.” In as few words as possible mention how long you’ve been in the business, awards, case studies and make your business out to be the pioneers or authorities of your field. E.g. I’ve been doing SEO since 2004 and have literally made millions of dollars for myself and hundreds of millions for my customers. Sprinkling these facts throughout my content without trying to boast too much, is exactly what AI is looking for.
For example, if you run one of the oldest and most trusted BPOs in Clark Philippines, it’s ok to mention and elaborate on it here and there within your paragraphs.
Formatting and Rich Data
Don’t write big long blocks of text. Make your content easy on the eyes, easy to read and easily extractible. Break it up with header tags, lists, bullets and as I mentioned before, a FAQ section.
Don’t try to aim for shear wordcount but rather get to the point and write almost as if you were having a dialogue with someone or even better write as if you were chatting with an AI chatbot.
Further Elaborations
Does Standard On-Page Optimization still matter? Yes, very much so. Things like clean code, PageSpeed, metadata, image optimization, crawlability and more.
Is Off-page still a factor? Backlinks, domain authority, citations and social media still matter. If your competitor is just as AI optimized as you but has more backlinks than you, they will automatically win.
There’s no magic way to rank in AI while sucking at all the other SEO attributes so you still need a well balanced strategy.
SEO is always about having more beans in your basket. If you have more SEO attributes in your basket than the next guy, you’ll outrank him. Plain and simple!
