Rich Snippets for SEO

Matt Cutts should have been a politician because he is so damn good at dancing around the truth! Just earlier today Cutts answered a simple question, “I know that rich snippets can increase CTR for my mention on a SERP. But is the use of Schema.org code beneficial for my actual positions on the SERPS as well?” -Quincy Rotterdam

The straight answer is not just yes but hell yes and here’s the simple reason that Cutts just wouldn’t say. The first reason is because an increase in click through ratio (CTR) will give you an immediate boost in rankings. Ever since the first Panda update, user activity has become increasingly important in Google algorithms. The second reason is because you are giving the bots more bot food and this helps them to read, interpret and index your site more easily.

Other benefits are that it is also bot food for when Google crawls your site. It’s giving more detailed information and helping Google to index your site better.
